BETHESDA, Md.-- SANS Institute, the global leader in cyber security training and certifications, today announced its return to Washington D.C. for SANSFIRE 2019 (#SANSFIRE) taking place June 15-22. The event features more than 40 hands-on immersion style courses taught by top cyber security practitioners from around the globe. Industry veteran Lenny Zeltser (@lennyzeltser) will explain how to avoid the top 10 mistakes in cyber security writing in an evening session on improving written communication skills.
Zeltser explained, "During my tenure in the security industry, I've read and created my share of poorly written reports, emails, and other content that didn't quite hit the mark. We can all improve the quality of our writing by watching out for the most common mistakes. In this talk I'll share how to avoid these issues to strengthen cybersecurity writing skills to better connect with the readers. The session will not only help attendees write better, but also offer a preview of the techniques I cover in the new SANS course SEC402: The Secrets to Successful Cybersecurity Writing: Hack the Reader."
In addition to his evening talk, Zeltser will teach his co-authored course FOR610: Reverse-Engineering Malware: Malware Analysis Tools and Techniques. This popular course explores malware analysis tools and techniques in depth. FOR610 training helps forensic investigators, incident responders, security engineers, and IT administrators acquire the practical skills to examine malicious programs that target and infect Windows systems.
Included among the line-up of instructors at SANSFIRE 2019 are a large number of course authors. Renowned cyber security expert Rob Lee will teach his new co-authored course FOR508: Advanced Incident Response, Threat Hunting, and Digital Forensics. Pen testing expert Ed Skoudis will teach his SEC560: Network Penetration Testing and Ethical Hacking course. Cloud security expert Dave Shackleford will teach his SEC545: Cloud Security Architecture and Operations course. Forensic expert Heather Mahalik will teach her co-authored course FOR585: Smartphone Forensic Analysis In-Depth. Attorney Benjamin Wright will teach his LEG523: Law of Data Security and Investigations course.
